Hot Mess Lemonade

Last night Keith walks in and I say "This cute drink is an apology."  He looks at me very confused and asks, "Why?"

"For your wife looking like a HOT MESS!"

It was just one of those days.  So, to take a break I put the screaming baby in his bed - what he needed and he was refusing to sleep.  I turned on a DVD for the whining 2 year old and told her she needed to sit there and watch or I was turning it off.  I went into the kitchen to make something for dinner.  I decided I wanted to use the strawberries before they went bad and I was making lemonade to drink with dinner anyway... so Strawberry lemonade.  Unfortunately, it didn't really help me all that much.

After dinner he says, "Wow babe, this is almost better than Red Robin's."   (The inspiration for my fancy drink.)  My response was, "This needs either tequila or vodka in it."  Yes, it was that bad of a day.  However, I would have to say he was right.  Red Robin's is very sweet and leads to heartburn if you drink more than one.

Would you like to see what all the fuss was about?

Would you like to know how I made this?  It's super simple.

Puree up 8 strawberries with 6 packets of Splenda (optional) and 1/4 cup of water.
Put this puree into the pitcher you will be making your lemonade in.  Fill it the rest of the way with water (I was only making a 2 quart pitcher.)
Add your lemonade powder and mix well.
Add sliced strawberries (2 small ones per glass) pour in your lemonade.
Garnish with a strawberry (cut a slice in the bottom and put it on the glass).
