Teach Me Thursday: Back to School with Teachers Pay Teachers

We have had such a busy week I am behind on blogging and sharing our preschool time with you. We didn't get to much this week.  We did some bug activities that did not go over well and some apple things.  I will try to share those next week.

I wanted to touch base on "Back to School" time and bring your attention to some of the items in my Teachers Pay Teachers store.  That are great for this exciting time of the year.

We will be touching on this one next week, but many people use apples as a theme in the beginning of the year.  $10 value for $7.50.  That is like getting the File Folder Games for FREE!

With this one you really want to click on PREVIEW to see what you are all getting.  It is a full year calendar for pocket calendars.  Bonus cards for birthdays and holidays.

Here are a sample of the images used in the calendar and clip art available if you would like to make your own items.

Fun Craftivity to help recognize the letters of their name. As they get older they can even write the letters themselves.

Possibly my favorite thing to do at the start of the school year.  I can't wait to do it with my two!  9 pages with great skills!  When you purchase the book you will also get a description on how 2 teachers used the book and how it was different for their different age levels.

One of my best sellers.  The pre-write pages can be used in a variety of ways.  16 different cards in all.

Do you have a Teachers Pay Teachers store?  Leave your link in the comments!

Teach Me Thursday: Large Scale Painting

We have not been doing too much with preschool this month.  Mainly because we were gone most days and now we are adjusting to Hubs working again.

The last few days I have been trying to wear them out without much planning (that has GOT to end - I need some go to ideas!)

I decided some large scale painting was needed.

9 Fun Easter Activities

I really attempted to do preschool 3 times a week in the month of March. Without an actual countdown, we were counting down the days to Easter.

We did some great things to do with Plastic Eggs before our Egg Hunt.  We did simple crafts that both Little Mister and Little Miss could handle.

Little Miss had so much fun she is even asking for more of these activities.  This upcoming month we are working with flowers, bugs and maybe some gardening.

Enjoy!  Come back and see how we changed one of these activities to get another month's use!

{Teach Me Thursday} Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day!  One of the best days of the entire year.

For years Valentine's Day was my favorite holiday.  This was even before I had found the Love that God created for me.  This was before I ever experienced the love of someone other than my family.  I am all about hearts, pink and red, and love.  I love the idea of love.  I love being in love.  I love sharing love.  I love LOVE.

We have had a few rough years and I have not been able to celebrate Valentine's day the way that I would want.  I am looking forward to next year being different.  I am not even referring to the expensive dates and gifts.  I am referring to things like ...

Making fun crafts and Valentine Cards for the people we love.

like this placemat from The Domestic Notebook

or this great little craft

How cute is this?

I want to do a count down to Valentine's Day with I love you because ...
I want cute Valentine's Day decorations.
I want to make cute Heart shaped foods.
I want to make my family a special meal and eat them on Valentine's Plates.

Valentine's Day is all about love.  Love is who I am.  This holiday just fits me. We will have Valentine's Day traditions, just like we have Christmas Traditions.

So share some love today!  Happy Valentine's Day to you from all of us here with The Hickman Five.

{Teach Me Thursday} - Valentine Edition

This week we are going to feature a few Valentine Crafts.

Revisit from last year:

Stuffed Heart Craft
Stuffed Heart Craft

This week's Fun Pinterest Find:

With Valentine's Day just around the corner I figured I would feature a cute card that can be made super simply!

I absolutely love this card and will probably make these to send to a few family members.

I was hesitant about using this pin because I prefer to pin things that take you to the original site.  When I clicked on this pin it only took me to a picture.  If this is from your site please let me know so I can give you proper credit.

Featured Pinterest Board:

This week I want to feature Robyn Palmer Bruna's Valentine Pin Board.  She is very organized with all of her boards and has some really cute preschool pins.

Enjoy!

{Teach Me Thursday} - FYI

Teach Me Thursday is going to be different for a while - I am not sure how long right now.  We don't have many any of our supplies where we are staying.

I am not even exactly sure what I am going to be sharing.

- Your kid inspired {Pinterest} boards.  You have to share them with me on Facebook though to get shared.
Go here to share your boards.

- I might just share some great preschool finds.

- There might be some of your old favorites.

It might be a combination of all the above.

{Pinterest Board}

Kelly over at Exceptionalistic shared her creativity board.
Great craft ideas for kids and adults alike.

One of the great finds from Kelly's Board.
{Great Find for Preschool}

We love memory games around here as you may already know.
I usually just make them on index cards.  This is a great option.

Found on Pinterest, but this is the link to the blogger, Eat, Drink, Chic and her super cute blog.

{Teach Me Thursday} Apples in Review

September was apple month. Most of our activities were competed with only construction paper.

Like many kids Little Miss's favorite preschool type activity is Arts and Crafts.

We made:

Apple Shaker Man

Fist Apples

Foot and Hand Print Apple Trees (Possibly Little Miss's favorite of the month)

3D Apple Tree

Her second favorite thing to do is play games.

We played:

Apple Hunt

Beat the Worm (this one was not loved, it had "rules")

I used many of her Bingo, Memory and Envelope Games to keep her busy at times other than "preschool time".  She got to play many of these games with Daddy because we have been needing to keep and Little Mister separated more than usual lately.

We played:

Seed Bingo

Apple Shape Bingo

Color and Letter Bingo

Apple Memory with Numbers and Letters

Apple Color Memory

Apple Shape Tree Envelope Game

These are other games we played

Bushel Color Match

Apple Match Game

Counting Apple Trees

We added one pre-writing skill activity this time.  It was about as popular as patterns the first time we did them.
Apple Trace (Pre Writing)

Patterns

As we all have found out I am an over achiever and we just don't get to it all.  (I have a plan to combat that next month.)

We didn't get to:
Big Bite Order

Apple Toss

Apple Letter Match

Worm Hunt

{Teach Me Thursday} Apple Theme

This week we ....

Tried our hands at Fist Apples.

We used our hands and feet to make an apple tree.

We played apple shape bingo.

We matched apples to the different colored bushels.

We even hunted for apples.
