Review: Peaceful Passage by Kim West, PhD

I am sure that going through her mother passing was a very hard time for Kim West, PhD.  In fact, I know it was.  Her journal is the last chapter of her new book, Peaceful Passage.

Across the top of the book it reads "Includes complete guidelines for partnering with Hospice".  It truly is.  I am not going through this situation right now and my prayer is that we do not have to go through this for quite sometime.  I will be thankful to have this book to lean on.

Kim West defines the different aspects of Hospice care.  She explains all the different feelings your love one and what you can do to help.  She explains the feelings you are going to experience and what you can do to help yourself.  She provides almost a checklist for all the different things you will need and feel.

By placing myself in the shoes of someone who would be dealing with such an emotional time I think this book would be 1. very helpful to make sure you have everything covered. 2. written in a way that you are still going to be able to read it while walking through your emotions.  Kim West draws on her story, but still leaves thing very black and white.

At the end of every chapter there are workbook sections. This makes it super easy to have everything you need in one convenient place.

If you know someone going through this season of life, or you are yourself, I think you should pick up this book.
