5 Minute Friday: Imagine

Every Friday I get an email about the 5 minute Friday.  I look at the prompt, sometimes I write, but most times I don't.

I just closed my eyes for 5 minutes and let my fingers do the rest.  (The closing my eyes parts stops my need to edit as I write.)

So here it is:  IMAGINE

Imagine what could happen if I gave it my all.  Imagine what could happen if I really knew exactly what I am supposed to do.  Imagine what could happen if I really just admit it and let go all my frustrations and all of my fears.  Let go of all my what ifs,  imagine what I could have if I was free.

To think.  That is what exactly what Jesus gives me.  The ability to be free.  The ability to let it all go.  Cast all your worries to the Lord.  That is what it tells us to do.  That is what we are told to do.  Imagine if we really could do that.

Imagine the life that doing that … letting go would really bring.  Would we have gray hair?  Would we be stressed about where the money for this or that is going to come from?  Would we really care?  We wouldn’t because we have put all of our trust in God.

Imagine --- Imagine a life of all your dreams coming true.  Imagine a life that is exactly what you want.  God created us in his image - he created us by speaking.  Imagine if we harnessed that power and created the life we are imagining.

Pancakes

Today's Prompt: Story

Five Minute FridayGo

When I saw the prompt for today's five minutes Friday a story popped right into my head.  Mainly because I was on my way to an in-school event when I saw the prompt.

I have (for the last 4 summers) been spending my time showing preschoolers the love of science using everyday items.  I own this business and through turns of life, it will be our last summer.  So, I try to remember the reasons why I started this while I am on the way to an event.  And stories like this enter my mind.

I am explaining to this particularly ruly group of 4 year olds that some dinosaurs eat meat while others eat plants.  I ask, "What do you think T-Rex ate?"  An extremely zealous 4 year old boy shoots his hand up in the air and yells "PANCAKES!"  Pancakes?  Yep, pancakes.

We Are Taking a Risk

Five Minute Friday
Risk:

Every week these prompts seem to hit it right on the head.  We are undergoing a grand adventure here at the Hickman house.  We are embarking on the journey to become home owners.  We have rented our entire lives together.  (That is 11 years) It is time.  It was time.  Well we have a plan and we need to work our plan.

It wouldn't seem like this is a risk, but it is.  If we don't make this plan, keep this plan, stay on top of it we are risking a lot.  We are risking our grandkids having the opportunity for to hear their parents say ... "That is the house Mommy/Daddy grew up in."  That is HUGE for Keith and I.

So, we are enlisting some big help ... we are enlisting the only thing that can put it all together for us.  We are enlisting help from God.  We have fallen in love with a house that will probably not be available when we are looking 18 months from now; however, it has everything we want.  We are printing it out putting the picture of our home all over the place.  Whenever we see it we are going to pray over this adventure.

The prayers will be things like - Dear God help us keep to our meal plan so that we don't go over budget this month and will be able to eat dinner in our new dining room. (when I walk past the one on our fridge).   Or - Dear God thank you for the current home we live in and thank you for helping us keep on track so we can grow our family in our future home (as we look at the picture hanging in our bathroom).

On this Path, I am a follower.

What a great week for me to stop stalking Five Minute Friday and actually post something.  This is one thing that has been going on and on, around and around in my mind for a while now ... what path am I supposed to be on.

I have own and ran preschool entertainment company for 4 years now.  Last summer it was a struggle to get out there and do it every day.  It was a lot of work for what seemed like a little money and it was pulling me away from what really mattered to me ... my 18 month old daughter (at the time).  I was pregnant, it was a hot summer.  I was no longer loving what I was doing.  I tossed around throwing in the towel with it.

So I prayed ... "God I truly believe that this is Your business do with it what you will.  I am going to listen to you and follow your lead."  God must have wanted us to give it one more shot and we marketed this sucker hard.  My husband called every single contact we had.  We emailed them all, and emailed them all a second time.  We prayed that God would financially provide for us since the bread winner was "out of work".

What happened from all that work ... nothing, okay well not nothing, but basically nothing.  The Wednesdays this summer are full and 3, yes 3 other days all summer long.

--- wow that was 5 minutes!

Sorry I need to finish my thought ... :)

It was totally a God thing too because Wednesday is the day my sitter doesn't work.  It became very obvious that God wanted me on a different path.  One that includes moving the Touch of Home Learning website information here to The Hickman Five.  And possibly using my craftiness and preschool expertise in a different way.

All I know is that on this path I am a follower.  Where God leads me I will follow.
